ABOUT Hotteok RECIPE

It's a Korean dish. They make it sweet with brown sugar and nuts. For the filling, I made a variation with noddle and veggies.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For the Dough:
  2. Maida/ Flour 2 cups
  3. Yeast 2 tsp or less
  4. Sugar 1 tsp
  5. Salt 1 tsp
  6. For the filling:
  7. Rice noodles 2 cups
  8. Soy sauce 1 tsp
  9. Carrot 1/2 cup
  10. Cabbage 3 tbsp
  11. Spring onion 1
  12. Onion 1
  13. Capsicum 1/2
  14. Salt to taste
  15. Garlic paste 1/2 tsp

Instructions

  1. To make the dough, mix the maida with dissolved yeast, sugar and salt. Pour in a little warm water and 1 tsp of sugar. Leave it for some time. Once it rises, make the dough by adding enough water to make a loose dough. Leave it aside for 2 hours.
  2. Prepare the filling in the meanwhile. Cook the noodles and cut them into small pieces.
  3. Heat a tsp of oil in a pan and add in the garlic paste, then add in the finely chopped onion and all the veggies. Put in some pepper, salt, soy sauce, noodles, spring onion and stir it well. Then remove it from the fire and let it cool down.
  4. Take the dough and make 8 balls from it. Apply a little oil on our hands and spread the dough ball on the ground, then put in 1 tbsp of the filling in it. Try to fold each end, like how we do while making kachoris.
  5. Heat a pan with oil, flatten the dough balls as much as possible and deep fry them.
  6. Serve them hot.
