Ingredients to make Jian Dui

  • Rice flour 1/2 cup
  • Sweet potato 1 large
  • sesame seeds 1/4 cup
  • peanuts butter 3 tbsp
  • coconut milk/ water to make the dough
  • Baking powder 1/2 tsp
  • Water to boil the sweet potatoes
  • Corn flour 1 tsp (optional)

How to make Jian Dui

  1. Peel the sweet potato.
  2. In a pressure cooker, boil the sweet potato with water till 1 whistle blows. Then let it cool and peel it.
  3. In a bowl, mash the peeled potato. Then add in the rice flour and baking powder. Mix it and make a dough with coconut milk or water.
  4. Now make small balls from this mixture. Take a ball and fill it with peanut butter in the middle and make balls once again.
  5. Now dip them into corn flour water. (This process is optional.) Now fold these balls into sesame seeds.
  6. Take a deep bottomed vessel.
  7. Heat oil and deep fry these balls. Then drain them on an absorbing paper.
  8. Serve them with hot tea.
