Vanilla Choco Cake

Ingredients to make Vanilla Choco Cake

  • maida - 1 and 1/2 cup
  • sugar - 3/4 cup
  • baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • Baking powder - 1 and 1/4 tsp
  • yogurt - 1 cup
  • oil- 1/2 cup
  • Vanilla essence - 1 tsp
  • almond - few
  • For the choco ganache :
  • Dark chocolate - 100 gms
  • Fresh cream - 100 ml
  • sugar if desired

How to make Vanilla Choco Cake

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celsius.
  2. Sieve the maida, baking powder and baking soda together. Keep aside.
  3. Mix sugar and yogurt in a bowl till the sugar dissolves. Then add in the oil and vanilla essence and mix well.
  4. Now slowly add in the maida mixture, 2 spoons at a time and mix it gently. Use the cut and fold method. You can add some chopped almonds here.
  5. Transfer the batter to a well greased pan and bake for 40 mins at 180 degrees celsius.
  6. Check around 7-8 mins towards the end by inserting a toothpick.
  7. Once baked, cool the cake completely.
  8. For the ganache:
  9. Chop the dark chocolate to small pieces.
  10. Heat the cream, now pour in the hot cream over the chopped dark chocolate pieces till they are covered. Cover and keep for 5 mins.
  11. Open and stir with a spatula till a nice silky texture of the ganache is formed.
  12. Now you can smear it all round the cake and decorate as you wish.

My Tip:

I've used Bourneville dark chocolates for the ganache as they are easily available and tasty too.
