Methiche Pithla

Ingredients to make Methiche Pithla

  • 1/2 cup chopped fenugreek Leaves/ Methi
  • 3 tbsp Besan/ gram flour
  • 5 to 6 finely chopped garlic cloves
  • 1 and 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 3 to 4 green chillies
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 inch grated or finely chopped ginger
  • 1/2 cup curd
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2 cups water

How to make Methiche Pithla

  1. In a pan put the water and keep it on flame to boil. Add in the methi and green chillies, let it boil for 2-3 minutes until the methi/ fenugreek leaves are cooked.
  2. In another pan, heat the oil and add in the mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Let them crackle.
  3. Once they start crackling, add in the finely chopped ginger and garlic to it. Saute for a few seconds till the garlic leaves its smell.
  4. Now add in the onion and turmeric powder. Mix it nicely. Cover the pan by putting lid on it.
  5. Meanwhile remove all the water from fenugreek leaves bowl and add in the besan/gram flour and curd to it. Mix it very nicely to form a battery mixture.
  6. Now add this battery mixture to the pan by removing the lid. Mix it very nicely. Add salt and mix it again.
  7. Add water as per your desired consistency (If required). Cover the pan with a lid and let it cook for 3 minutes or until it is cooked nicely.
  8. Serve this dish with chapati or rice.
