Chola Dabbala

Ingredients to make Chola Dabbala

  • 1 cup white kabuli channa
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp channa masala powder
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2 onions chopped
  • 3 tomatoes chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 1 tbsp red chilli powder
  • A pinch of turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp dhanya powder
  • 1 tsp amchoor powder
  • 1 tbsp garam masala powder
  • 1 tbsp green spicy chutney
  • 1 tbsp tamarind chutney
  • 1 tbsp sev
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 tbsp kasturi methi
  • coriander for garnishing
  • 4 bread slices

How to make Chola Dabbala

  1. Soak the channa overnight and pressure cook it till 3 whistles blow.
  2. Then in a kadai add oil to heat, fry the onions and tomatoes till they are light pink in colour.
  3. Next add in the red chilli powder, dhanya powder, amchoor powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and mix well till the oil separates itself.
  4. Turn off the gas and keep it aside to cool. Then grind it into a smooth paste.
  5. Then in a cooker add oil to heat, then fry the paste nicely till the oil comes out.
  6. Then add in the channa masala powder, chopped coriander, kasturi methi and mix it well. Now add in the channa, salt, water and pressure cook it till 3 whistles blow.
  7. Then take a plate, place the bread, then add the channa masala over it.
  8. Sprinkle red chilli powder, garam masala powder, chat masala powder, chopped onions, coriander and sev.
  9. Then put in the green spicy chutney, tamarind chutney and curd over it.

My Tip:

In place of bread you can use cutlet. This can be made during kitty parties. It's easy to serve.
