Potato and Beetroot Gratin

Ingredients to make Potato and Beetroot Gratin

  • 2 large potatoes
  • 1 large beetroot
  • 3/4 cup cream
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

How to make Potato and Beetroot Gratin

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees centigrade.
  2. Peel and slice the potatoes and beetroot. Keep aside.
  3. In a large saucepan mix together the cream and milk, bring this liquid just under a boil. Add in the sliced potatoes and cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Season well with salt and pepper. Spoon half of the potatoes into a buttered dish.
  5. Put a layer of beetroot on top, season as you go.
  6. Top with the rest of the potatoes and cream. Put in the oven for an hour or until the potatoes and beetroot are tender. Let the top brown a little.

My Tip:

You may need to cover the top with foil after 45 minutes to prevent it from turning extra brown on top.
