Tawa Zeera Biscuits

Ingredients to make Tawa Zeera Biscuits

  • all purpose flour/ maida 100 gm
  • butter 50 gm
  • Powdered sugar 30 gm
  • salt a pinch
  • baking soda a pinch
  • Milk 2 -3 tbsp
  • cumin seeds 1 tsp

How to make Tawa Zeera Biscuits

  1. Heat an empty frying pan on a low flame. It will be used as the top cover. Place a tawa, filled with sand on the gas and on top of this tawa, keep the empty tawa for baking the cookies.
  2. Combine the sugar and butter. Beat until fluffy and creamy.
  3. Add in the other ingredients as well and mix gently. Sprinkle some milk as needed to bind the dough.
  4. On the kitchen counter, sprinkle some flour and roll it gently. Cut into desired shapes.
  5. Gather all the scrapes after each rolling and re - use until all the dough is used.
  6. Spread the cookies on the tawa and immediately, cover them up with the frying pan. They should be done in 12 to 15 minutes.
  7. Turn off the flame as soon as the colour changes and keep the lid or frying pan as it is. Remove it only after another 5 minutes.
  8. Crunchy and tasty biscuits are ready for the tea time.

My Tip:

Heat both the frying pan and the tawa on a low flame so that the biscuits cook evenly. It is just like how we preheat the oven. You can make them in the preheated oven on 180 degree centigrade for 15 minutes. Do not knead the cookie dough. You just have to combine all the ingredients very gently. This is an important step to follow for any cookies we make. Do not add more milk. Just 1 to 2 tbsp is enough.
