About Bhapa Doi Recipe

It is a very delicious desert that can be made quickly. My kid loves it!

Bhapa Doi

Ingredients to make Bhapa Doi

  • Hung curd/ yoghurt - 1 cup
  • Condensed milk (Have used Nestle)- 1 cup
  • Milk (Full cream)- 3/4 cup to 1 cup
  • Roasted almonds and pistachios - 2 tbsp
  • cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp or more
  • Few strands of saffron (Optional)

How to make Bhapa Doi

  1. For preparing the hung curd, take curd and tie it in a muslin cloth. Let it drain for at least 1 - 2 hours.
  2. Now mix the hung curd in a bowl till you get a smooth mix. Add in the Condensed milk to this and mix.
  3. Add in the milk slowly. Next add in the cardamom powder and few chopped pieces of roasted almonds and pistachios.
  4. Pour this mixture in ramekins or some desert bowls and cover with foil paper on top and steam for 20 mins. Check by inserting a knife in the middle, if the knife comes out clean then the 'bhapa doi' is done.
  5. Refrigerate these bowls for 2-3 hours.

My Tip:

Flavour Suggestions: You can dip a tea bag in the milk before pouring it in the mix; Add saffron strands in milk; Grate some lemon rind, or put few crushed strawberries. I have shared the basic recipe but the more you experiment the more variation you will get.
