ABOUT SHWEDAGON KHOWSUEY ( Burmese) RECIPE

A blend of spices & condiments into a Burmese Khowsuey preparation which has coconut milk, creamy dressing and soft boiled noodles embedded in tomato paprika gravy. A tasty and palatable dish. Your family will enjoy for sure. Do try:blush:

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Noodles 100 grams
  2. Gram flour 2 tablespoon
  3. Tomatoes 2 ripe( chopped or pureed)
  4. Ginger 1 teaspoon chopped
  5. Garlic 1 teaspoon chopped
  6. Green chillies 2 chopped fine
  7. Coconut milk 300 millilitre (fresh or canned)
  8. Spring onion greens (garnish)
  9. oil 2 tablespoon
  10. turmeric 1/4 teaspoon
  11. Paprika 1 teaspoon
  12. Salt 2 teaspoon
  13. Lemon 1/2
  14. Baby onion 1 ( garnish)
  15. Chilli oil 1 tablespoonn
  16. Fried onions 1 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Boil noodles and keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in pan, add chopped ginger garlic, chopped green chillies and saute.
  3. Now add the turmeric, paprika and gram flour, saute for 2 minutes.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and cook for 2 minutes till tomatoes are completely mashed up.
  5. To this add half litre water, stir well and cook till reduced to thick consistency.
  6. Add salt and squeeze in lime now.
  7. In a separate pan boil the coconut milk, reduce to custard consistency and thickness.
  8. Add some salt and lime to this too and remove from flame.
  9. In a deep bowl pour the hot tomatoes, gram flour curry (keep some for next step).
  10. Refresh the noodles by dipping in hot water and strain out.
  11. Now pour tomato curry on these noodles covering a little.
  12. Garnish with the coconut cream prepared, the fried onions, chopped baby onions, chopped spring onion greens and chilli oil.
  13. You can also pour the coconut cream and greens lesser than shown.
