Veg dalia khichdi

Ingredients to make Veg dalia khichdi

  • 1/2 cup dalia or fada
  • 1/4 cup moong dal..u can take yellow moong dal or chilka moong dal also
  • Mix vegetables of your choice like carrots , potatoes, tomatoes, onion, etc
  • water 2 cups
  • 1 tbsp ginger chopped
  • 1 tbsp garlic chopped
  • 1 tbsp chilli chopped
  • Whole spices like cloves , dal chini, tej patta , kadi patta,
  • 1tsp of mustard seeds, cumin seeds, each
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp of dhaniya powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp haldi ppwder
  • salt to taste

How to make Veg dalia khichdi

  1. Rinse the dalia and moong dal properly..and soak them for 15 to 20 mins in warm water.keep aside.
  2. Wash and chop the mix vegetables.
  3. In a pressure cooker heat 1 tbsp of oil and mustard seeds, cumin seeds and whole spices.
  4. Once the spices are tempered add ginger garlic and chillies.
  5. Saut till its raw flavours go away.
  6. Add all the mix veggies. .
  7. Add dalia and dal mixture
  8. Add all the spices
  9. Mix well.
  10. Add water stir well.
  11. Close the lid of pressure cooker and cook for 7 to 10 mins I.e 5 whistles..
  12. Khichdi is ready to serve

My Tip:

Water can be added more if you like little liquid consistency. .. You can also add sprouts to make it more healthy. Can be served warm with raita and roasted papad.
