Ingredients to make Kozhukkattai/ Coconut & Jaggery Dumplings

  • Rice flour 1 cup
  • jaggery (grated) 3/4 cup
  • coconut (grated) 1 cup
  • cardamom (crushed) 2 pods
  • salt 1/2 tsp
  • water 3/4 cup

How to make Kozhukkattai/ Coconut & Jaggery Dumplings

  1. 1. Heat a pan and add the grated jaggery.
  2. 2. When it begins to melt, add in the grated coconut.
  3. 3. Stir until jaggery gets well incorporated in the coconut.
  4. 4. Add in the crushed cardamom and mix.
  5. 5. Switch the flame off.
  6. 6. Meanwhile prepare the rice flour dough.
  7. 7. Mix the rice flour and salt in a bowl.
  8. 8. Add water and mix to form a soft dough.
  9. 9. Once the dough is ready, make small balls out of it.
  10. 10. Using your palms, flatten each dough ball.
  11. 11. Place 1-2 tsp of the coconut jaggry filling inside the flattened dough.
  12. 12. Seal the edges and roll it to form a ball.
  13. 13. Repeat the process for all the balls.
  14. 14. Steam for 15-20 minutes.
  15. 15. Allow to cool a bit.
