Gooseberry /Amla Jam

Ingredients to make Gooseberry /Amla Jam

  • Gooseberry - 500 gms
  • sugar -500gms
  • cardamom -4
  • cinnamon sticks -2

How to make Gooseberry /Amla Jam

  1. Wash gooseberries.
  2. Take a saucepan and put enough water to cover gooseberries.
  3. Cook the gooseberries on the low flame till they become soft.
  4. Remove from stove and strain the water from gooseberries. let them cool down. Preserve this water for any other dish.
  5. Meanwhile, peel and grind the cardamom and cinnamon sticks.
  6. Take out the seeds from the gooseberries. Grind the gooseberries to make a smooth paste.
  7. Now in a steel wok, put this paste along with the sugar and cook it on a medium flame. Keep stirring.
  8. Sugar will completely dissolve in a while and paste start to change its colour.
  9. After 5-7 minutes it will start to thicken. Test the mixture. When it sticks to your finger like a jam switch off the stove.
  10. Put the cinnamon powder in the jam. Mix well. Add cardamom powder. The jam is ready
  11. Let it cool down. Transfer to a jar.

My Tip:

Kids do not like gooseberry because of its sourness. But kids like this jam on their chapatis ,bread and pancakes. This is very healthy recipe. I personally use bura chini from patanjali because it is made up of sugarcane.
