ABOUT Crunchy Flax Onion & Carom Seeds Crackers RECIPE

Delicious crunchy crackers with a goodness of flax seeds as well as carom seeds which provides the essential dietary fiber, omega-3, minerals, etc. to the body. These taste exceptionally good with a hot bowl of thick stew.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 2 cups whole wheat flour
  2. 1 cup all purpose flour
  3. 1-1/2 tsp salt
  4. 1-1/2 tsp onion seeds (kalonji)
  5. 1 tsp Carom seeds (Ajwain)
  6. 1 tsp garlic powder
  7. 1 tsp onion powder
  8. 1 tbsp baking powder
  9. 1 cup milk
  10. 1 tbsp sour cream
  11. 6 TBSP cold unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 Deg F (180 deg C).
  2. Combine flours together along with baking powder, salt, flax seeds, onion seeds, carom seeds, garlic powder, and onion powder. Give a good whisk to mix well.
  3. Combine sour cream and cold milk till no lumps remain.
  4. Dice butter into small cubes and rub them with the flour till the flour resembles breadcrumbs and no lumps remain.
  5. Add the milk mixture and bind the flour to a firm dough.
  6. Line a baking tray with ovenproof parchment paper.
  7. Roll out the dough thin on a clean surface dusted with plain flour.
  8. With a round cookie cutter or jar lid, cut the dough in disc shapes.
  9. Gather the leftover dough and roll it out again as previously mentioned and cut in the disc shapes or any desired shapes.
  10. Arrange them on the baking tray and bake in oven for 25-30 minutes flipping the crackers midway through baking time. This ensures crispy crackers that are evenly browned both sides.
  11. Remove tray from oven and cool the frackers for 5 minutes. Transfer to wire rack to cool thoroughly.
  12. Serve with any soup/stew or have them with tea.
