Ingredients to make Rawa Appe (semolina cakes in appam patra )

  • semolina or suji/rawa 1cup
  • Sour curd 1cup
  • ginger paste1/2tsp
  • Green chilli paste1/2tsp
  • Karipatta leaves 8-10
  • salt to taste
  • water as needed
  • Red chilli powder 1/2tsp
  • turmeric powder 1/4tsp
  • jeera 1tsp
  • oil 1tbsp

How to make Rawa Appe (semolina cakes in appam patra )

  1. Mix rawa, curd, ginger paste, green chilli paste and salt in a bowl. add water to get a consistency like idli batter and leave it for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat a greased appam patra on gas top at low flame
  3. Pour the batter on each section
  4. Put a lid on appam pan and cook for 3-4 minutes
  5. Chack if not done cook for 2 min more
  6. Turn off off gas and let it cool down
  7. In a pan add oil, jeera, harimirch and karipatta
  8. Add rawa appe you made
  9. Season with salt, red chilli powder,turmeric powder and mix well
  10. Serve with sauce or chutney
