Aaloo Ghobi

Ingredients to make Aaloo Ghobi

  • 250 -350 gms cauliflower
  • 2-3 medium potatoes
  • One big onion
  • 1 tbspn ginger garlic chopped
  • salt to taste
  • 1 /4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri chilli powder (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp Garam masala (optional)
  • 2 tbsp oil to cook (I use Fortune rice bran)
  • coriander for garnish

How to make Aaloo Ghobi

  1. Separate out florets of Cauliflower
  2. Peel potatoes and cut into wedges
  3. Chop onions and tomatoes fine separately
  4. Chop fresh ginger garlic
  5. Heat oil in pan or pressure cook
  6. Saute the chopped onions
  7. Add ginger garlic and saute all
  8. Add salt and turmeric
  9. Add tomatoes
  10. Now add the potatoes and cauliflower florets and mix well
  11. Saute all for 2 minutes
  12. Add chilli powder and cumin powder and mix well
  13. Cook covered on low heat, stirring every five minutes in pan, for 15 minutes till well done
  14. Sprinkle garam masala (optional,) when hot and mix well
  15. Sprinkle corriander to garnish
  16. Fill the lunch box with this tasty Aaloo Gobhi with rotis or parathas

My Tip:

Cook in a pan if you want it to roast well. For quick cooking, cook in a pressure cooker for 1-2 whistles.
