In different region, it is known by different names like 'Egg kathi roll' or 'Egg frankie'. Chapati Egg Roll is a very popular street food. In Chapati egg roll recipes chapati and omelet are rolled together and cut into pieces. You can also prepare this roll from the leftover chapatis. Chapati egg roll is a delicious and lip smacking dish which you can easily prepare at your home. It is a healthy dish, it has protein, carbohydrate and fat and a famous street food of Kolkata. Add wheat flour and salt in a bowl and make a normal dough by adding water. Add a little oil, mix them and leave it for 20-30 minutes. Take mayonnaise, green chili, carrot, cucumber, onion, crushed pepper powder, salt, oregano and tomato sauce in a bowl and mix them well. Add one egg in that bowl and beat it. Take the dough and roll it, then put this chapati in a hot pan to cook. Apply ghee on the both sides of the chapati and add the egg mixture to it. Cook it for about 1 minute and then spread mayonnaise and sautéed vegetables over the stuffing. Wrap it and serve this to your family and friends.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Wheat Flour 2 Cups.
  2. Salt 1 Pinch.
  3. ghee 4 tsp
  4. Eggs 4
  5. For stuffing -
  6. Green bell pepper -1/4 Cup chopped
  7. carrots- 1/4 Cup chopped
  8. onions - 1/4 cup chopped
  9. cucumber- 1/4 cup chopped
  10. Pepper powder 1/2 Teaspoons
  11. Oregano 1 tsp
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Chilly powder to taste
  14. Mayonnaise 2-3 tbsp
  15. Tomato sauce 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Take wheat flour, salt, and water and make a normal dough.
  2. Then add a little oil and mix it again. Let it rest for 20 minutes.
  3. For stuffing, take some mayonnaise in a bowl and add green bell pepper, carrot, cucumber, onion, crushed pepper powder, salt, oregano, tomato sauce and mix well. Keep aside.
  4. Take one egg in a bowl and beat it. Add seasoning according to your taste.( take 1 egg for 1 chapati at a time)
  5. Take the dough and roll it on to make big roti. Transfer it on a hot pan to cook. Cook both the sides.
  6. Apply little ghee on both the sides and take it in a plate. Heat some butter on a pan, also add some oil. Pour the egg mixture on it
  7. On this keep the cooked roti or chapati, cook for 1 min. Turn it other side slowly, and take out in a plate.
  8. Take the chapati(egg side up), spread the mayonnaise+ veggies mix on egg coated chapati, and roll the chapati tightly over the stuffing, wrap the lower part of roll with paper and serve.
