Ingredients to make Homemade Pizza Sauce

  • Olive oil – 1 tbsp
  • Garlic (sliced) – 7 large cloves
  • Basil herb – 1/2 tbsp
  • Parsley herd – 1/2 tsp
  • Oregano – 1 tbsp
  • Tomato (chopped) – 1 large
  • Tomato puree – 2 medium blanched tomatoes
  • Fun Foods pizza topping – 1 tbsp*
  • Fresh Basil (chopped) – 10 to 15 leaves
  • Pepper – 1/2 tsp
  • salt as per taste

How to make Homemade Pizza Sauce

  1. Pour a tablespoon of olive oil in a pan, add the sliced garlics.
  2. Add all the herbs (Parsley, basil, oregano) and mix well.
  3. Add the finely chopped tomato and cook for 2-3 minutes on low flame.
  4. Now add the tomato puree and cook on low flame, stirring continuously.
  5. Pour in the Fun Foods pizza topping, fresh basil, pepper and salt. Mix thoroughly.
  6. In case the sauce has dried up, you can add a little water to retain thickness. You might want to keep your pizza sauce thicker than usual for thin crust pizzas as compared to regular base or pan pizza base.
My Tip: Blanching tomatoes - Wash tomatoes with clean water and make a ‘X’ sign on them. Boil for 30-60 seconds, remove tomatoes from the boiling water and immediately put the tomatoes in an ice-water-filled sink or bowl. As they chill, you will see the skins start to pull away from the meat of the tomato. Remove the tomatoes from the ice water. Once cool, remove their skin and blend them to puree.
