ABOUT Gujarati Sour and Sweet Pancakes/Meetha and Khara Pudla RECIPE

This is very quick and easy Gujarati recipe. The sweet and sour pancakes being made separately and being served like sandwich makes it very delicious. It has sweet and sour taste together. Kids would really love it and it is also very healthy!

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Sour Pancakes -
  2. 1 1/2 cup gram flour
  3. 1/2 cup grated tomatoes
  4. 1 finely chopped green chillies
  5. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  6. 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  7. Pinch of Asafoetida
  8. Salt to taste
  9. 1 Cup water
  10. Oil to make pancakes
  11. Sweet Pancakes-
  12. 1 cup whole wheat flour
  13. 1/2 cup jaggery
  14. 1/2 cup water
  15. Oil to make pancakes
  16. Serving -
  17. Tomato ketchup
  18. green chutney

Instructions

  1. To make sour pancakes -
  2. Mix all the ingredients and mix it well and set aside for 10 mins.
  3. Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) on a medium flame and grease it lightly with oil.
  4. Pour 1/4th portion of the mixture on it and spread it evenly using a ladle to make a thin pancake.
  5. Sprinkle 1/2 tsp of coriander and cook on both the sides until it become golden brown.
  6. Make other sour pancakes as well.
  7. To make sweet pancakes -
  8. In a mixing bowl, soak jaggery in water for few mins until it melts properly.
  9. Now add whole wheat flour and mix it well using a whisk so no lumps form
  10. Heat a non- stick tava and grease with oil. Heat on medium flame.
  11. Pour 1/4th portion of mixture using ladle and spread it evenly to make thin pancake.
  12. Cook on both the sides until it becomes golden brown. Make pancakes with remaining batter
  13. Serving -
  14. Now place one sour pancake, apply some tomato ketchup and green chutney on it and on top place sweet pancake and cut them into pieces or serve as it is.
