ABOUT Flax Sandwich Bread RECIPE

We often buy bread for convenience and also believe it to be not be very healthy. But home made bread is without preservatives and a whole lot of chemicals that come in the market bought loaf. Here is a healthy sandwhich loaf full of goodness of Flaxseeds. A very good way to sneak Omega-3 in your kids' tiffin. Flax Bread makes lovely sandwiches.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  2. 1/2 cup flaxseeds
  3. 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  4. 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  5. 2 teaspoons instant dry yeast
  6. 2 tablespoons honey
  7. 1 cup Luke warm water

Instructions

  1. Take 3/4 cup warm water in a bowl. Add honey. stir. Add yeast. Cover and keep in a warm place for 15 minutes. The mixture will begin to foam. This is to ensure that the yeast is active.
  2. Take 1 teaspoon of flaxseeds. Grind the rest to a fine powder. Measure 1/2 cup.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the first four ingredients.
  4. Make a well in the center. Add water. Bring the ingredients together adding more water till you get a shaggy dough.
  5. Knead the dough. As you knead, it will keep becoming manageable. the dough will be sticky and wet initially but will become elastic and supple.
  6. Add more water if the dough feels hard. By the end of kneading, the dough should be soft and smooth.
  7. Shape the dough into a ball and transfer the dough to an oiled bowl. turn around so that it is evenly coated with oil. cover and keep in a warm place to rise for about 1 hour or until double.
  8. Grease one 8x4 1/2 inch bread pan.
  9. Transfer the dough into a floured counter. Sprinkle the reserved flaxseeds. Punch and knead for another 4 to 5 minutes. Shape into a loaf.
  10. Transfer the loaf to the prepared pan.
  11. Cover and keep for 50 to 60 minutes or until it doubles.
  12. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees C for 30 to 35 minutes.
  13. The top should turn golden brown and the bottom of the pan should sound hollow when tapped.
  14. If the bread is turning too brown before time, cover with a foil.
  15. Slice when cold.
