Gatte Ki Kadhi

Ingredients to make Gatte Ki Kadhi

  • For the Gatte: gram flour - 1 cup
  • Curd - 2 Tbsp
  • Red Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Garam Masala - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric - 1 tsp
  • Ghee as required aprox 1 tbsp
  • Ginger garlic paste - 2 tsp
  • For the Gravy: Tomato - 1
  • oil as per requirement
  • Curd 1 cup
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste 2 tsp
  • Coriander powder 2 tsp
  • Turmeric 1 tsp
  • Garam Masala 1 tsp
  • Red Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste

How to make Gatte Ki Kadhi

  1. Mix all the dry ingredients, add in ghee, curd and ginger garlic paste to form a stiff dough.
  2. Boil water in a pan, apply some oil on hands and divide and roll the dough into cylinders
  3. Drop them in the water till they are cooked and begin to float on water.
  4. Place them seperately to dry. After cooling cut in chunks with a sharp knife an d keep aside.
  5. In a pan heat some oil on high flame, after a minute lower the flame to medium and begin adding the spices.
  6. Begin with cumin, toss for 2 minutes then add in tomatoes, followed by the gram flour chunks 'gatte'.
  7. Let it cook, separately mix curd, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder,garam masala powder, green chillies, ginger, garlic and some salt.
  8. Add this mixture into the pan. Give a good stir and let it come to a boil.
  9. Gradually add in some water for desired consistancy of the gravy.
  10. Cover and let it simmer for approximately 10 minutes.

My Tip:

Tip: Use powdered whole spices for good aroma and flavour. Use curd that has turned sour.
