Ingredients to make Natural Nuts

  • almonds 1cup
  • jaggery 1cup
  • oil 1tsp
  • cardamom powder 1tbsp
  • water 2tbsp

How to make Natural Nuts

  1. Dry roast the walnuts in a non-stick kadhai/microwave oven and let cool.
  2. Melt gur in a non-stick pan on a low flame with the water and oil and let it come to a boil. You will know it's done once it starts pulling away from the edges. Now add cardamom powder to it.
  3. Add the almonds and mix well for a couple of minutes till the gur has coated the almonds completely.
  4. Lift the almonds with a spoon one by one and place on tray lined with foil
  5. If the mixture in the pan becomes hard. Re-heat it on a low flame. It should not burn.
  6. Cool the caramelised nuts to room temperature and store in an airtight container

My Tip:

To test the readiness of syrup you can drop a small droplet in chilled water and check it. The droplet should get solid immediately. Take off from the gas.
