Ingredients to make Pourlanga Urundai (Mixed Dhal - Nutritious Laadu)

  • Moong Dhal (Payatham Paruppu) - One Cup
  • Channa Dhal (Kadalai Paruppu) - 1/2 Cup
  • wheat - 1/2 Cup
  • rice 1/4 Cup
  • Pottukadalai (Chatni Dhal) - 1/4 Cup
  • jaggery - 3 cups
  • Dry ginger (sukku) Powder - One spoon
  • Cardomom Powder - One Spoon

How to make Pourlanga Urundai (Mixed Dhal - Nutritious Laadu)

  1. Fry each of the ingredients separately to golden brown colour
  2. Grind all the ingredients to powder
  3. Mix well
  4. Add Dry ginger powder and cardamom to it.
  5. Make jaggery syrup by adding ¼ cup of water to Jaggery and boil it. It should be 3 strings thick. To find out the correct consistency: When the jaggery syrup is dropped in water it should be able to roll like a ball.
  6. Pour the jaggery syrup over the powder. Mix well. Make small balls / laadus.
