Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Mustard - 1 spoon
  2. Urid dhal-2 spoon
  3. Channa dhal -2 spoon
  4. Fenugreek seeds- 2spoon
  5. Redchili -8 no's
  6. Curry leaves-1/2 cup
  7. Tamarind-1 big lemon size (remove seeds and make thick juice)
  8. Salt as required
  9. Asafoetida -:1 pinch
  10. Gingelly oil- As required
  11. Pepper powder-1 spoon
  12. Ground nuts-roasted 1/2 cup ( not compulsory)

Instructions

  1. Take a pan fry fenugreek seeds till turns light brown .Transfer to a bowl
  2. Add little oil in the same pan fry red chillies 4 no's for 2 mins. Blend this fenugreek ,salt 1 spoon and red chilli to a fine powder.
  3. Heat gingelly oil in a pan Fry mustard,urid dhal and Channa dhal.Fry till turns brown.
  4. Add curry leaves and left over red chillies. Saute for sometime
  5. Add pinch of asafoetida and turmeric powder. Now pour tamarind juice and add salt . Keep it in a high flame.
  6. Once gravy starts thickening keep stiring it.
  7. Once it is done add blended powder , pepper powder and roasted ground nuts.
  8. Gravy should be like halwa consistency. Switch off the flame and mix well with white rice .
  9. Serve after half or one hour. This goes well with pappad and potato curry .
