About Jalebi Recipe

I used to make it with traditional method of fermentation. This time I tried making instant jalebi and the result is awesome. This sweet which is so famous in North India is spirals of plain flour dipped in sugar syrup.

Jalebi

Ingredients to make Jalebi

  • For aprroximately 25 jalebi
  • maida 1 cup ( approx 150 gms)
  • Rice flour 1 tbsp
  • Corn flour 1 tbsp
  • Baking powder 1/4 tsp
  • Soda 1/4 tsp
  • curd 1/2 cup
  • Yellow food colour a pinch or 1/6 tsp turmeric powder
  • ghee/ Oil for frying
  • For sugar syrup
  • sugar 1 1/2 cups
  • water 1 cup
  • Chopped pistachio handful
  • cardamom powder 1 tsp
  • Few saffron strands

How to make Jalebi

  1. For sugar syrup/Chashni On medium heat in a heavy bottom pan boil sugar and water till you get one string consistency.. .
  2. Mix cardamom powder and saffron strands.
  3. For jalebi In a bowl mix maida, rice flour, corn flour baking powder , soda,yellow food colour curd and little water Make a fine paste.
  4. If you feel paste consistency is thick then add little more water
  5. Fill this in a piping bag/ketchup bottle.
  6. In a non-stick/Flat surface pan heat ghee /Oil . Now with help of piping bag or tomato ketchup bottle squeeze the jalebi better and make spirals.
  7. Deep fry from both side on low heat till crisp.
  8. Transfer into chasni for one minute.
  9. Transfer to servings plate garnish with pistachios n serve .

My Tip:

After preparing batter make jalebi immediately.
