Prawns Fry

Ingredients to make Prawns Fry

  • Tiger Prawns 10
  • chilli powder 2 tsp
  • pepper powder 1/2 tsp
  • turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • lemon juice 1 tsp
  • ginger garlic paste 2 tsp
  • salt as required
  • coconut oil

How to make Prawns Fry

  1. Remove shell and devein prawns.
  2. Wash the cleaned prawns in water adding salt and turmeric powder.Wash few times in plain water. You can add lemon juice to water and wash the prawns. This step is optional, but I always follow this.
  3. Mix 2 tsp chilli powder, 1/2 tsp pepper powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp lemon juice, 2 tsp ginger garlic paste and salt in a bowl.
  4. Marinate the prawns with the masala paste nicely and keep aside for 30 minutes.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and add the prawns. Shallow fry the prawns until golden brown. This will take around 3-4 minutes on each side on low medium flame. Make sure that the prawns are not overcooked.
  6. Serve hot as a starter or as a side dish with rice and enjoy the tasty prawns fry.

My Tip:

If you are using store bought ginger garlic paste eliminate lemon juice from the recipe. You can add curry leaves in the marinade for an extra flavour. Grind them along with the masala paste to blend the flavour of curry leaves. Overcooking the prawns make them hard and spoils the entire dish. I used to make this mistake during initial days of cooking. Please be careful with this.
