Mumbai Masala Pie

Ingredients to make Mumbai Masala Pie

  • Maida/all purpose flour - 1 cup
  • 1/2 cup - butter
  • salt as per taste
  • water as required
  • potatoes boiled & mashed - 2
  • 1/2 cup - green peas
  • 1 tsp - pavbhaji masala
  • 1tsp - Garam masala powder
  • Lalmirch powder/ Red chili ppowder - 1 tsp
  • 1 - chopped onion
  • 1/2 tsp - Haldi/ turmeric
  • 1 Tsp - chaat masala
  • 1 tsp - cumin powder
  • 5 to 6 - curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard seed
  • 1/2 tsp jeera
  • 1 - green chilly (optional)

How to make Mumbai Masala Pie

  1. Make dough from maida, butter, pinch of salt & very little water, just to bind the dough. Don't knead too much & let it rest for sometime.
  2. Now for the stuffing take a pan add oil, add mustard seeds, jeera, peas, curry leaves, green chili, all masalas, mashed potatoes and mix well. The stuffing is ready.
  3. Now take a pie dish grease it with oil, roll out a roti from the dough of size of pie dish and place it on the pie dish.
  4. Prick it with a fork, apply green chutney, place stuffing on it. Now roll another roti & cut strips from it & place it on top.
  5. Bake it for 25-30 minutes in a pre-heated oven at 180 degree celsius.
