Ingredients to make Cabbage and Peas

  • 1 medium sized cabbage finely sliced
  • 1 large onion finely sliced
  • 1 tomato finely sliced
  • 3 green chillies finely chopped
  • 6 garlic cloves finely chopped
  • 2 new potatoes diced
  • 1/2 Cup Green peas
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon jeera powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon sugar
  • salt to taste
  • 2 green cardamom pods
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 small piece of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon jeera or panch phoron for tempering
  • 1 teaspoon ghee
  • 1 teaspoon mustard oil

How to make Cabbage and Peas

  1. Heat the oil and ghee in a deep pan.
  2. Add the jeera, cardamom , cloves , cinnamon
  3. Put in all the vegetables , cabbage, onion, garlic , tomato , potato , green peas. Mix well.
  4. After two minutes add salt , sugar , jeera powder , ginger paste , turmeric powder and mix well.
  5. Cover and cook on very low heat till done. Stir occasionally. Do not add water.
  6. When all the water has dried and the cabbage is cooked , turn off the heat .
  7. Serve hot with rice or roti.
