Plantain Flower Vadai

Ingredients to make Plantain Flower Vadai

  • Well cleaned and chopped plantain flowers - 1 cup
  • Gram dal -1/2 cup
  • Small onion - 1 cup( chopped)
  • ginger/garlic - a pinch ( chopped finely)
  • cinnamon - a small stick
  • Sombu -1 tsp
  • Green chilli - 2 nos
  • Coriender leaves - a hand full
  • salt - As required
  • oil to fry - as required.

How to make Plantain Flower Vadai

  1. Take a wide bowl and add cleaned and chopped plantain flowers Add chopped onion, chillies, ginger and garlic Add a pinch of cinnamon Add salt as required. Sprinkle some amount of coriander leaves chopped finely.
  2. Soak the gram dal for 1/2 hour and drain it with stainer
  3. Soak gram dal for 1/2 hour, add add sombu and cinnamon to the soaked gram dal
  4. Grind them as coarse paste, now add this paste to the vada mixture
  5. Now mix everything using your hand.
  6. Make a small ball from it and tap it to round shape using your palm with some oil
  7. Heat the frying pan with oil and put these prepared vada's one by one
  8. Fry till brown and crisp. Plantain Vadai are ready.

My Tip:

Coconut chutney is the best combination for this.
