Kandha Poha

Ingredients to make Kandha Poha

  • Beaten rice / thick poha 2 cups
  • oil 1 tablespoon
  • onion 1 ( finely chopped )
  • potato 1/2 ( chopped in bite size cubes)
  • Green chilli 1 ( finely chopped )
  • mustard seeds 1/4 teaspoon
  • curry leaves 1 sprig
  • Asafetida ( hing ) 1 pinch
  • turmeric 1/2 teaspoon
  • coriander powder 1 teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon
  • sugar 1/2 teaspoon
  • ginger- garlic paste 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander leaves ( for garnishing )
  • lime juice 1 Teaspoon

How to make Kandha Poha

  1. Wash and drain the beaten rice ( thick poha )
  2. Leave it aside for five minutes
  3. Heat a tablespoon of oil. add mustard seeds
  4. When the mustard seeds splutter add curry leave and asafetida
  5. Add onion - green chillie and fry till pink and cooked on low heat
  6. Add in turmeric
  7. Add ginger - garlic paste and fry till raw smell disappears
  8. Add in the chopped potatoes and fry for 2 minutes till cooked
  9. Add now the red chilli powder, Coriander powder, sugar, salt as per taste
  10. Now put in the beaten rice or poha and combine well.
  11. Sprinkle the lime juice
  12. Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves.
