Ingredients to make Kalachanna And Dalia Burger

  • 1cup of bulgur wheat.
  • 1/2 cup of black garbanzo bean / Kalachanna
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp of cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp of coriander seed powder
  • 1 tbsp of parsley chopped
  • 1tsp of coriander leaves
  • 1/2tsp of lemon zest
  • Salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
  • oil for frying
  • 1 tbsp of eggless mayo
  • 1 tbsp of ketchup
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Slices of tomato
  • Rings of white onion
  • A few pretzel sticks
  • Cheese slices
  • Wholemeal burger buns

How to make Kalachanna And Dalia Burger

  1. Soak the garbanzo beans overnight.
  2. Pressure cook them till soft not mushy. instead you can use canned beans also.
  3. Set aside to cool after draining excess water.
  4. Soak the dalia/ bulgur wheat in warm water following pack instructions
  5. Drain and set aside.Set the food processor.
  6. Add the beans and pulse for a few times till coarse. Now add the spices of cumin, coriander,paprika, with the bulgur wheat, the herbs, lemon zest salt and pepper. Pulse a few more times and you will see they start clumping together.
  7. Take a lump of the mixture a form a few patties
  8. Heat oil for shallow fry in a frying pan and fry the patties.Cook on a medium flame till done. Drain from the oil and place a cheese slice over each.
  9. Toast the buns lightly.
  10. Place a lettuce on the cut bun. Put a dollop of ketchup..place a patty followed by mayo and the tomato and onion rings. Cover with the second part of the bun and hold in place with a pretzel stick enjoys

My Tip:

Serve the patty alone with green chutney and sweet chutney
