Maize Veg Appam

Ingredients to make Maize Veg Appam

  • 1and 1/2 bowl makki ka aata
  • 1cup nicely chopped mix vegetables (like capsicum,cauliflower,carrot,green peas etc)
  • 1 medium size onion chopped
  • 1 cup curd
  • 2 tsp fresh shredded coconut
  • 2 garlic cloves chopped
  • 1/2 tsp cooking soda
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • green chilli nicely chopped
  • few curry leaves
  • Fresh coriander chopped
  • oil for cooking
  • 2 pinch of asafoetida
  • salt to taste

How to make Maize Veg Appam

  1. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, garlic, onion, curry leaves one by one now add green chilli and asafoetida.
  2. When pleasant smell comes, add all chopped vegetables and salt in it and saute it for 2 mins.
  3. When it is half cooked, switch off the gas and let it cool
  4. When it cools, add makki ka atta, fresh coriander leaves,shredded coconut, salt and cooking soda in it.
  5. Now add curd in it and prepare a batter. add more water if needed
  6. Heat an appam pan,grease the pan and pour better in it and cover it, when light brown in colour pour few drops of oil turn over and cook it the other side
  7. When it completely cooks, serve hot with green chutney and tomato and onion chutney.
  8. Garnish with some shredded carrot, coconut and coriander leaves.
