Rava Uttapam

Ingredients to make Rava Uttapam

  • 1 cup - rava/semolina
  • Oil as required
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 to 3 tbsp - curd
  • 1/2 tsp - salt (or as per taste)
  • 1 Chopped tomato
  • 1/2 shredded cabbage
  • 1 Carrot juliennes
  • 1 small capsicum juliennes
  • 1/4 Tsp - baking powder (optional)

How to make Rava Uttapam

  1. In a large bowl make a batter of semolina, curd, salt and water. It should not be very runny. Let it rest for 1/2 hour.
  2. After that give it a stir. Add baking powder (optional).
  3. You can add vegetables in the batter mix and make uttapam or go by the traditional way as given below.
  4. On a non stick pan pour a part of batter and spread it in circular shape. Spread the vegetables over it.
  5. Sprinkle oil on sides and let it cook on a slow flame. Once done invert it. Put oil on the sides and cook other side also.
  6. Transfer it to the plate and it is ready to serve.
  7. Similarly prepare other uttapams from the remaining batter.
  8. It is best Enjoyed with sambhar, chutney or other sauces.
My Tip: To achieve perfect texture sprinkle some water on pan and let it evaporate. After that only pour the batter on pan.
