ABOUT Banana Nutella Calzone RECIPE

These calzones are to die for with a creamy texture of nutella and fresh bananas, and the pastry baked to perfection.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Dough Ingredients:
  2. 900 grams all purpose flour
  3. 10 grams instant yeast
  4. 1 tablespoon sugar
  5. 1 and 1/2 tablespoon salt
  6. 60 ml olive oil
  7. 500 ml lukewarm water
  8. Main Ingredients:
  9. 226 grams dough
  10. 1 banana
  11. 60 ml Nutella
  12. 1 tablespoon butter melted

Instructions

  1. To make the dough, put in all the dough ingredients into a large bowl. Stir these ingredients well until they are finely blended.
  2. Cover this bowl with a plastic wrap and let it sit for a time period of 2-3 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
  3. Before baking this dough, put in on a floured surface and using a sharp knife, cut a half pound of the dough (the size of an orange).
  4. Sprinkle a little more flour and make a ball of the dough, stretch the surface of the dough around to the bottom, rotating a quarter-turn as you go.
  5. Preheat the oven to 204 degrees celsius.
  6. Take the dough and put it on a floured surface, work the dough into a ball size and then form a disc shape.
  7. Sprinkle flour on top, with the help of a rolling pin, roll the dough into a 9-inch round shape.
  8. Once the dough is rolled to a 9-inch circle, transfer it to a baking sheet.
  9. Put the nutella in the microwave for 10 seconds so that it warms and is easy to spread.
  10. With the help of a knife, gently spread the nutella on top of half the dough, however make sure to leave one-inch on the border side. Then slice the banana on top of the nutella.
  11. Now using your fingers, gently lift the clean dough side and fold this over the bananas and nutella, remember to leave a half inch border.
  12. Press to seal then fold the half inch over that seal, compress it to make sure the seal is tight. Take the butter and brush the calzone with it, cut three slits on top of the calzone.
  13. Bake it for 20 minutes or till the calzone turns into a beautiful golden colour. Let it rest for five minutes before cutting.
  14. Once cooked, let it cool down for 4-5 minutes.
  15. Serve warm with a dash of chocolate drizzle on top.
