Ingredients to make Khameeri roti

  • 1 cup - maida/ refined flour
  • 1 cup - atta/ wheat flour
  • 1 tsp - active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp - salt
  • 1/2 tsp - sugar
  • 2 tbs - ghee
  • Warm water to knead
  • Poppy seeds and onion seeds for sprinkle on top

How to make Khameeri roti

  1. Mix both the flours add salt.
  2. In 1/2 cup of warm water dissolve sugar, mix in yeast, cover and let it rise for 10-15 minutes
  3. Mix in yeast with flour, knead with warm water cover and let it rise for 30 minutes
  4. When well risen, add ghee and make 6 balls, let them rest for 10 minutes
  5. Heat inverted cooker, tawa or tandoor
  6. Roll them into chapati, with water stick poppy seeds and kalongi
  7. Stick with water into hot oven /cooker
  8. Cook till golden brown.
My Tip: Serve with 'Nalli Nihari' or any gravy dish.
