Ingredients to make Gharge (A sweet made of pumpkin)

  • 1 cup grated pumpkin
  • 3/4 cup jaggery
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg powder
  • 1 tsp elaichi powder
  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • oil for Deep frying

How to make Gharge (A sweet made of pumpkin)

  1. Take the grated pumpkin in a pan. Put jaggery in it.Cook till all the jaggery gets mixed in the pumpkin. it will take 5 minutes
  2. Add elaichi and nutmeg power to it.
  3. Now let it cool.
  4. Now add wheat flour to the above mixture. Do not put more wheat flour as we don't need a stiff dough.
  5. Keep this dough overnight.
  6. In the morning take a clean cloth, wet it with water&place it on a flat dish.Prepare balls from the dough.Wet your hand with water & prepare puris by tapping the balls on the cloth .
  7. Put oil in a kadai for deep frying.Now put the puris in the oil in kadai .Let puri(gharge)be brown & then take it out from kadai.Serve hot or cold.

My Tip:

Don't put much wheat flour else the puris (gharge)will not be soft.
