Couscous Pongal

Ingredients to make Couscous Pongal

  • Couscous - 1 cup
  • masoor dal - 1 cup
  • ghee - 1 tbsp
  • To Temper :
  • Black peppercorn - 1/4 tbsp
  • jeera - 1/4 tbsp
  • mustard seeds - 1/4 tbsp
  • green chillies (finely chopped) - 1/2 tbsp
  • Few curry leaves and salt to taste
  • cashewnuts - 10

How to make Couscous Pongal

  1. - Boil 1 and half cups of water in a saucepan with a pinch of salt
  2. - Once they start boiling add couscous and close the pan with lid
  3. - Turn off the stove and within 10 minutes they would have been cooked completely
  4. - Pressure masoor dal upto 4 whistles
  5. - Now mix Masoor dal and couscous. Adjust salt
  6. To temper pongal lets heat ghee in a pan.
  7. Add all the ingredients mentioned under 'To Temper' section
  8. Once they are all saute'd well, add this tempering to the Couscous+dal mixture
  9. Delicious couscous pongal is ready to be served with chutney and sambar
