Classic Peach and Prune Trifle

Ingredients to make Classic Peach and Prune Trifle

  • Canned Peach Halves 4 (diced)
  • Canned Prunes 6 (diced)
  • Peach jelly 1/2 cup
  • Chocolate cake 4 pieces
  • Fresh cream 3/4 Cup
  • water 1/2 cup
  • honey 2 tbsp
  • star anise 1
  • lemon zest 1/2 tsp
  • lemon juice 1/2 tsp
  • pistachios (crushed) 2 tbsp
  • For peach jelly:
  • Canned Peach Halves with syrup 1/2 cup
  • Gelatine 5g
  • sugar 2 tbsp
  • water 2 tbsp

How to make Classic Peach and Prune Trifle

  1. First prepare the peach jelly.
  2. For this, blend the peach halves with syrup and water to form a smooth paste.
  3. Sprinkle gelatin on top of this fruit juice and allow to bloom for 5 minutes.
  4. Next, mix it well and warm it on low flame for 2 minutes.
  5. Switch the flame off and allow to cool completely.

  7. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours.
  8. Next boil the prunes with water, star anise, honey, lemon zest and lemon juice.
  9. Let it boil for 2 minutes on high flame.
  10. Then simmer and cook uncovered till the mixture thickens and become syrupy.
  11. Refrigerate until use.
  12. To assemble the trifle, take a trifle dish or shot glass.
  13. Arrange the cake pieces to form the base.
  14. Next add in the diced peach pieces and peach jelly cubes.
  15. Add a layer of fresh cream above it.
  16. Top it with a layer of thick prune syrup.
  17. Repeat a layer of cake, diced peach and peach jelly cubes.
  18. Add little fresh cream.
  19. Garnish with crushed pistachios.
