Steamed cabbage parcels

Ingredients to make Steamed cabbage parcels

  • cabbage cups 4
  • Paneer (cottage cheese) grated 3/4-1 cup
  • French beans finely chopped 6-8
  • spring onion greens finely chopped 1-2 stalks
  • ginger finely chopped 1/2 inch
  • Crushed black peppercorns to taste
  • salt to taste
  • Soy sauce 1 tablespoon
  • vinegar 1 teaspoon
  • Sweet chilli sauce/Schezwan sauce for serving

How to make Steamed cabbage parcels

  1. Line a bamboo steamer with parchment paper.
  2. Heat 1-1½ cups water in a non-stick wok.
  3. Discard stems of cabbage cups and blanch in hot water for 30 seconds and drain on a plate.
  4. Heat the lined bamboo steamer in the same hot water.
  5. Combine cottage cheese, carrot, French beans, spring onion greens, ginger, crushed peppercorns, salt, soy sauce and vinegar in a bowl and mix well.
  6. Place each blanched cabbage cups on the worktop.
  7. Put some cottage cheese mixture in the center, fold and wrap it.
  8. Place the wrapped cabbage parcels on the hot steamer, cover and steam for 5-7 minutes.
  9. In between turn the parcels upside down to steam properly from both the sides.
  10. Serve hot with sweet chilli sauce or schezwan sauce.

My Tip:

Try making these with chinese cabbage.
