ABOUT Chia Kokum Concoction RECIPE

A healthy drink that aids in digestion and weight loss. The kokum fruit is rich in Hydroxy Citric Acid which regulates fatty acid synthesis and reduces fat accumulation in the body. Chia seeds on the other hand are rich in protein and fibre. The high fibre content helps to absorb more water and thus gives the feeling of 'fullness' and slows down the rate of absorption of food. The combination is not just healthy but tasty too. Kokum has a naturally sweet tangy flavour and I find a glass of this refreshing drink a perfect start to my day.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 2 tbsps Chia seeds
  2. 4-5 Kokum fruits
  3. 2 Cups Water
  4. 1 tbsp powdered jaggery

Instructions

  1. Soak the Chia seeds in 1 cup of water for 4-6 hours or overnight.
  2. Soak the kokum in the remaining water for 4-6 hours or overnight.
  3. Boil the kokum infused water along with the fruit for 5 minutes.
  4. Cover with a lid and allow to rest for 10 minutes.
  5. Mash the soaked fruits to extract maximum flavour of the kokum.
  6. Strain the liquid to get clear kokum juice.
  7. Mix in the powdered jaggery.
  8. Add this to the soaked chia seeds.
  9. Adjust the sweetness if needed.
  10. Store refrigerated in an air tight glass jar and consume within 3-4 days.
  11. Enjoy this healthy drink chilled or at room temperature.
