ABOUT Chakka(Jackfruit) Poori RECIPE

The one thing that anyone travelling across Kerala just cannot miss the Jackfruit....ummmm this has such a strong smell and sweet in taste...In Kerala there are two varieties of Jackfruits Varikka and Koozha. Varikka has strongly hard inner flesh when ripe, while the inner flesh of the ripe Koozha fruit is very soft and melts in mouth..Here I have taken Varikka Chakka for Chakka Poori....Let's see the recipe

Ingredients Serving: 1

  1. Jackfruit [Medium riped] - 1 [remove the seeds and dice the pulp]
  2. All purpose flour - 1 cup
  3. Rice Flour - 3-4 tbsp
  4. Gram flour - 2 tbsp
  5. Water to make batter
  6. Salt - 1/2 tsp
  7. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  8. Cardamom Powder - 1/2 tsp
  9. oil to fry

Instructions

  1. Heat Kadai and pour ample amount of oil in to it.
  2. For making Batter take one pot ,add all purpose flour, rice flour,gram flour,salt and turmeric mix well and add water and make a thick batter.
  3. Now dip each jackfruit pieces in batter and pour it in oil for frying.
  4. Fry until it becomes little crispy.
  5. Do not add sugar as the sugar from jackfruit releases while frying in oil which gives taste like sugar syrup
  6. Take out in a tissue paper to remove excess oil and serve hot with tea or coffee.
