Ingredients to make Ellu Podi/Sesame Podi

  • 1 cup black sesame seeds
  • 1/2 cup urad dal
  • 12 red chillies
  • 1tsp jeera
  • 1/2 tsp jeera
  • 1/2 tsp hing
  • 2 sprigs of curry leaves
  • 2 piece of jaggery
  • Salt to taste

How to make Ellu Podi/Sesame Podi

  1. Dry roast sesame seeds in kadai in medium flame til it splutters with a nice aroma
  2. Dry roast urad dal till it turns golden colour in medium flame
  3. Fry chillies, curry leaves ,jeera separately
  4. Do not over fry the ingredients
  5. Once cooled first grind the chilles
  6. Now add all the ingredients to a coarse powder & Store it in air tight container
  7. Tastes good with Gingely oil
  8. Yummy side dish for dosa & idli
