ABOUT Gajar Ka Halwa or Carrot Halwa in Microwave RECIPE

Gajar ka halwa is made with nuts, milk, sugar and ghee with grated carrot. Grated carrots are cooked in boiled milk with sugar and lots of nuts in slow flame until carrots are cooked and whole milk is absorbed with constant stirring. But you can avoid this constant stirring part, by making it in Microwave. The taste will be the same but with very very less effort.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Carrots : 1/2 kg.(Peeled and grated finely)
  2. Condensed milk : 1 cup [Condensed milk can be replaced with sugar according to personal preference and also the amount of the condensed milk can be decreased or increased as per taste]
  3. Ghee(clarified Butter) : 2 tblsp.
  4. Milk : 1 Cup
  5. Cashew Nuts : Chopped in small pieces
  6. Raisins : a handfull
  7. Cardamom powder : 1 tsp.

Instructions

  1. Grate the carrots as fine as possible, this makes the cooking time lesser. In a big microwave safe bowl, add grated carrots, ghee and milk. Mix well and microwave covered for 10 minutes in 100% power or High. Stir once in between.
  2. Take out and add condensed milk, cashew nuts and raisins. Mix well and again microwave covered for another 10 minutes in 100% power or High. Stir once in between and check the sweetness level, if needed as little more condensed milk.
  3. Microwave for more minutes until milk is absorbed and carrots are totally cooked. Always stir in between. When done, take out the bowl and sprinkle cardamom powder over it and give a good stir.
