Dal bhaji or palak ki dal [moong dal with spinach]

Ingredients to make Dal bhaji or palak ki dal [moong dal with spinach]

  • Moong daal with chilka 1 cup
  • spinach leaves 1/4 kilo
  • ginger grated 2 tsp
  • garlic crushed 1 tsp
  • cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • asafoetida 1 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • besan 1 tbs

How to make Dal bhaji or palak ki dal [moong dal with spinach]

  1. Cook daal in pressure cooker (with water ) till completely mashed , also add hing [asfoetida] whilst cooking, I have cooked it till the pressure cooker had given one whistle and then on a low flame for 2 minutes.
  2. For the tadka, heat some oil in a tadka pan, add some cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  3. Add ginger garlic, red chilli powder, turmeric powder ,salt and then the chopped spinach .cook for 10 -12 minutes. Then add besan [gram flour] in it and roast till brown.
  4. Add this mixture to the cooked dal. Give it a good mix, check for seasoning and then serve it with some hot roti.
