About Banana Wheat Pancake/Kaelya Maskat Recipe

A traditional and healthy brahmin pancake which is very easy to cook, this is a recipe that I learned from my grandmother.

Banana Wheat Pancake/Kaelya Maskat

Ingredients to make Banana Wheat Pancake/Kaelya Maskat

  • wheat flour - 1/2 cup
  • Grated jaggery - 2 tbsp
  • coconut Scrapings - 2 tbsp
  • banana - 3 small sized
  • water - 1/2 cup
  • ghee as required

How to make Banana Wheat Pancake/Kaelya Maskat

  1. Pour all the ingredients into a bowl except for the ghee. With the help of a masher/spoon/ hand blender mix everything together and make a batter with a thick consistency. Keep aside.
  2. Heat a dosa/crepe pan and drizzle a liitle ghee in, add a ladle full of the batter and spread a little. (Note that we want thick crepes).
  3. Once one of the sides is cooked, flip it and cook the other side as well.
  4. You can also drizzle a little ghee through the sides of the pancake while it is being cooked.
  5. Once it is done, top it off with a little ghee and serve to enjoy.

My Tip:

Try and use ripe bananas for best results.
