INSTANT SUJI (RAWA) IDLI

Ingredients to make INSTANT SUJI (RAWA) IDLI

  • 2 cup Suji (Rawa)
  • 1 Cup Thick yogurt
  • 1 ENO fruit salt
  • 2 tbsp chopped onions
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon urad dal
  • 1-2 sprigs curry leaves
  • salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli
  • 3 tbsp oil

How to make INSTANT SUJI (RAWA) IDLI

  1. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds. When they starts to crackle, add urad daal and curry leaves .
  2. When it gets little brown add finely chopped onions and sauté for 2 mins. Add salt to taste, red chilli powder.
  3. Add 2 cups of Suji (Rawa) in another pan and roast it . Make sure it does not burn. Turn off the flame and transfer it to a plate. Allow it to cool.
  4. Take one cup of yogurt in a bowl. Add roasted Suji mixture and water . Mix it well. Consistency of batter should not be so thick and thin. Make sure that there are no lumps. Allow it to rest for 15 mins at room temperature.
  5. Add 1/2 packet of ENO fruit salt in a batter and stir it for 1 min.
  6. Put half glass of water in a pressure cooker and grease idli stand with little oil. Put batter in idli stand with the help of spoon. Do not put whistle on pressure cooker. Steam it on medium flame for 7-10 mins to make it soft and spongy.
  7. After 7-10 mins turn off the flame and remove idli stand from pressure cooker. When it cool downs a bit, remove idlis from moulds with the help of knife.
  8. Serve hot with tomato chutney or sambhar.

My Tip:

You can add chopped capsicum, carrots or any other healthy vegetables into the suji mixture to make it more healthy.
