The basic one string sugar syrup for Indian sweets like Gulab jamuns.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 2 cups sugar
  2. 1 Cup water

Instructions

  1. Boil the water and sugar together in a pan, until sugar dissolves and it becomes bubbly. Turn heat down to keep it bubbling gently for about 15 minutes.Do not stir.
  2. Dip the spatula in the syrup, lift it out, touch it with the tip of your forefinger to pick a drop of syrup. Be very careful, it can burn your finger!
  3. Touch your forefinger with your thumb and pull apart slowly,it should form a single thread, if its not done then cook for some more time and check again.
