About Lotus seeds Raita Recipe

Makhanas are puffed up lotus seeds just as popcorn, which are puffed corn kernels. We are going to prepare Lotus seed Raita.

Lotus seeds Raita

Ingredients to make Lotus seeds Raita

  • 2 cups - curd
  • 1/2 tsp - salt
  • 1 cup - Lotus seeds (makhane)
  • 1/4 tsp - rock salt
  • 1/4 tsp - roasted cumin powder
  • 1/4 tsp - chilli powder (optional)
  • 1tsp - ghee

How to make Lotus seeds Raita

  1. First clean the makhanas and remove any black shells on them (brown spots are fine).
  2. Cut each makhana with a scissors or knife into two and dry roast them with little salt and ghee. Keep aside to cool.
  3. Meanwhile take yogurt in a bowl and add all the seasoning : salt, rock salt, cumin powder, chilli powder and mix.
  4. Now add the roasted makhane, mix it and your yogurt is ready.
  5. You can add mint leaves or chopped coriander to garnish which is optional.
