This is my mother in law's recipe, where in she used to use pumpkins to make this delicious curry to be served with some simple dal rice.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Chana dal 1 tablespoon
  2. Urad dal 1 tablespoon
  3. Cumin seeds 1/2 tablespoon
  4. Mustard seeds 1/2 tablespoon
  5. Dry red Chilles 2
  6. Green chillies 2
  7. Curry leaves 1-2 sprigs
  8. To prepare sesame powder :
  9. Sesame seeds 2 spoons
  10. Chillie powder 1 spoon
  11. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Chop pumpkin into medium sized pieces Boil in salt and turmeric water drain the water and let the pumpkin pieces cool down
  2. To prepare the sesame powder :dry roast sesame seeds and 2 red chillies carefully once they are cooled grind to fine powder add little salt also
  3. For seasoning : Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a pan Then add chana dal ,urad dal , mustard seeds , cumin seeds &saute till they turn to light brown Add curry leaves red Chilles & green chillies
  4. Mix well then add the boiled pumpkin pieces Mix carefully lest the pieces will break Finally add the sesame powder Mix gently otherwise you can toss Add 1 tbsp of ghee (optional ) and cover the lid
