Ingredients to make Buttermilk Puffs

  • 200 gms all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup flavourless oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg powder (optional)
  • 3/4 cup curd / thick buttermilk
  • powdered sugar for rolling

How to make Buttermilk Puffs

  1. Sift together all the dry ingredients except sugar in a bowl.
  2. In another bowl, beat the egg and sugar. Then add oil and beat until smooth.
  3. Then add flour and beaten curd alternately mixing well in between additions.
  4. Deep fry by spoonfuls on low flame till golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper.
  5. When still warm, roll in powdered sugar and serve.
