#Panchmel dal

Ingredients to make #Panchmel dal

  • Tuvar dal 2 tbsp
  • Red masoor dal 2 tbsp
  • Moong dhuli dal 2 tbsp
  • Chana dal 2 tbsp
  • Urad dhuli dal 2 tbsp
  • onions 2
  • tomatoes 3
  • ginger paste 1 tbsp
  • green chillies 2
  • ghee 3 tbsp
  • cumin Seeds 1 tesp
  • asafoetida 1/4 tesp
  • salt 1+1/2 tesp
  • red chilli powder 1/2 tesp
  • turmeric powder 1/2 tesp

How to make #Panchmel dal

  1. Wash and soak all five dal for an hour.
  2. Pressure cook dal with 600 ml water, 1 tesp salt and turmeric powder. Give one whistle then cook on sim for 5 minutes.
  3. Finely chop onions and tomatoes.
  4. Heat 2 tbsp ghee in a pan. Sizzle cumin seeds and asafoetida.
  5. Add chopped onions. Golden fry onions.
  6. Add ginger paste. Roast for a while.
  7. Add tomatoes, chopped green chillies, 1/2 tesp salt and red chilli powder.
  8. Cook till tomatoes get tender and fat separates.
  9. Add this tadka to boiled dal. Mix well.
  10. Give a boil to dal again. Adjust thickness. If needed add boiled water as per requirement.
  11. Dish out. Garnish with chopped green coriander.
  12. Temper with red chilli ghee.
  13. Serve with roti and rice.
